The White Card is Hungary's digital nomad permit for non-EU nationals who work remotely for a foreign employer or manage their own foreign-registered company. It is valid for one year and renewable once, but does not lead to permanent residence.
The White Card lets non-EU remote workers and foreign-company owners live in Hungary while working digitally for businesses based outside the country. To qualify you must work remotely for a non-Hungarian employer, or remotely manage a company registered outside Hungary, and show net monthly income above the required threshold for the months before entry, maintained during your stay. Proof of accommodation in Hungary and comprehensive health insurance are also required.
There are firm limits to keep in mind. White Card holders cannot work for Hungarian employers or own shares in Hungarian companies, the permit is valid for one year and renewable only once, and it does not lead to permanent residence. It is designed as a temporary lifestyle route, not a settlement pathway.
Income thresholds are set by decree and can change, so confirm the current figure before applying. ACME can help you check that your income evidence and remote-work setup meet the conditions and plan a longer-term route if you later want one.
