If you want to run your own business in Sweden you can apply for a residence permit as a self-employed person. You generally need to show significant experience in your field and of running a business, that you have decisive influence over and primary responsibility for the company, and that the business can support you (and any accompanying family) — usually expected to be demonstrated within the first two years through customers, contracts, a budget and adequate funds. Holders of an advanced (master's-level) degree may instead use the permit to come to Sweden specifically to look for work or explore starting a business.
