Norway does not have a residence-by-investment or golden-visa programme. The main business route is the self-employment permit for running your own sole proprietorship — not a limited company (AS) — where the work needs skilled qualifications and the business must support you.
Unlike some European countries, Norway does not offer a residence-by-investment or golden-visa scheme. There is no route that grants residence simply in exchange for a financial investment.
The main business-related option is the self-employment permit. It allows a qualified non-EEA national to live in Norway running their own sole proprietorship (enkeltpersonforetak) registered there — importantly, a limited company (AS) does not qualify for this route. The activity must require skilled-worker level qualifications, the business has to be expected to give you sufficient income to live on, and any required professional authorisations must be in place.
Applications are decided by UDI, which weighs both your qualifications and the viability of the business. Because the company-form rule is decisive and there is no investor shortcut, getting the structure right from the start is essential. ACME can help you assess whether your plan fits the self-employment route, and we suggest confirming the current rules on udi.no before you proceed.
