Cyprus is an EU member but has not yet joined the Schengen Area. As a result, holding a Cyprus residence permit does not entitle you to travel visa-free to Schengen countries. Non-EU residents of Cyprus must obtain Schengen visas in the normal way to visit Schengen states, unless their nationality is already visa-exempt for Schengen. Accession to Schengen has been a Cypriot government goal but is not yet in force.
